And finally, BBK is on! Few quirks putting it together. Firstly, they had supplied the wrong size nuts to go on the calliper mount bolts! Simple enough to get some bigger ones. I also didn’t have the hex bit sockets to torque them as I hadn’t realised the bolts aren’t the same as the stock ones. The left side went on perfectly without any adjustments, no rubbing between the disc and the calliper or pads. But the right side for some reason I had to take on and off several times adding/removing the little shim washers that were supplied to get the right fit. In the end there was still a tiny bit of resistance from the pads when rotating the disc. As if the hub is not rotating evenly somehow. Anyhow, I don’t think this will be an issue once I’ve driven it a bit and the pads wear accordingly. In fact the very slight rubbing noise when driving initially has now gone completely after bedding them in. Bled the fluid which was problem free. The pedal feels a little squishy with a lot of travel. I had expected it to be firmer. I’m fairly certain I didn’t get any air into the system. However, when they do bite my god! Whilst bedding them in on a nearby quiet stretch of carriageway, I felt a bit dizzy at full force! The extra grip from the PS4s also evident. Overall very happy with them. Btw, does anyone else notice a mild humming noise when braking with the AP/Reyland kit? The last thing is that I’m now left with a clunking noise while driving at slow speeds over uneven surfaces. Started after the new suspension went on. Doesn’t always relate to bumps so I’m thinking it’ll be the new drop links rather than the struts or top mounts. They feel tight but I’ve tightened them only with the impact wrench and molegrips. The spanner I have doesn’t fit into the gap around the nut at the top as the edges of the closed end of the spanner are too thick. And I need a slimmer ratchet to get in at the bottom end to hold the hex part of the bolt. I’ll report back if I manage to cure this by tightening the links properly. I want to get it all feeling tight before venturing on track!

For Sale 17" space saver spare wheel with foam insert
choupolo replied to Tweedbean's topic in For Sale GT86 / BRZ Parts
Gotta be some kind of record! 😂 -
Great video and lovely car. I also love Leeds, has a great atmosphere. We did a video of my car when I got it, in the Yorkshire dales:
-
I bought mine new. But only as the facelift had just come out. Figured the extra depreciation over 3 years was worth the extra features on the facelift model. As others have said I might buy new now for a Blue Performance Pack version, but a decent second hand car few years old will be less than 15k hopefully.

Donington it is. I’ve never been to Silverstone so may try the GP circuit one day, I know Donington in a Ginetta and an MX5 and loved it. Craners may be a little slippy in December though!
-
Probably looking at 5th Dec Silverstone National or 12th Dec Donington National.

Really tempting! I've never done Silverstone. I'd need to get time off work though. A parade of GT86s around there would be epic!

Alignment done. Went to Drury Lane Garage in Oldham. Top class job done same day within a few hours, very friendly and got to chat about trackdays etc. Now have -2.5 camber front, -2.0 rear and very slight rear toe-in. They checked over all my handiwork to ensure it was all safe. I left the dampers at 7 clicks. The wobbly handling is cured, hurray! Feels very planted so far, as much as you can feel on the road anyway. Once the BBK is in, I'm rebooking the last track day I had planned that was cancelled due to covid back in March (anyone planning to do a Circuitdays event soon?). Will post some beauty shots of the finished car soon once its stopped pouring. Just saving up for the TD NA tune now. Pictures of the final camber and ride height:
-
Ah cool, thank you. Yes that’s what it feels like a massive cross wind! The toe is visibly out, I’ll straighten it as much as possible and take it for its alignment. Fingers crossed!
-
Thanks. Yes a professional alignment is for sure coming before I drive it anywhere. I wasn’t sure how long it was going to take me yesterday and which is why I hadn’t booked anything. I have another car in the meantime.
-
Ok suspension and wheels done. Took much longer than I thought it would! Worked into the dark yesterday, checked it all over today. It’s dropped about an inch. Got the camber dialled. The rear toe isn’t quite right yet. BBK needs doing still. I need some advice. I’m still not fully happy with it. The ride feels very strange at the back, like it’s moving around/wobbly, even at slow speeds. To the extent I wouldn’t be happy taking it to work via the motorway on Monday. I’m certain I’ve tightened everything to spec. There’s too much toe in at the back, easy to see visually. I’m going to straighten this out and take it to an alignment shop. But would that be enough to cause such bad wobble? The coilovers damping is set to 7 clicks from hard. Could it be that? I plan on hardening them up, sorting the toe then reassessing. In the meantime here are some pictures. I think it looks pretty good!

I’ve got the tyres on the wheels now. They’re pretty much the same profile as before, which is what I wanted. Weight-wise, being 17x9” wheels, the extra rubber almost negates the lightness of the wheel itself. The total weight is 17.9kg per wheel. I need to weigh the stock wheels but I worked out from figures online they would be around 18.1kg (does that sound right?) But it wasn’t possible to get the concavity from the narrower wheels. They do the TE37 Saga in bronze don’t they...which is almost gold! So I tried to work on the car today. But I got stuck. The drop link bolt was a nightmare! It was completely rusted and seized, and I couldn’t get it off in the end. Bit disappointed as that meant I couldn’t do the suspension which means the wheels won’t go on and therefore the brakes won’t fit yet! Any advice on getting a rusted drop link bolt off would be most welcome! Got the lights on though. They look good. My vinyl wrap work was far from perfect though and I may well rip it off when I get sick of seeing all the wrinkles and bubbles!
-
Was about to put the wheels brakes and suspension on my day off today but it’s chucking it down. So instead experimenting with some smoke vinyl wrap on the tail lights. Thought it might look nice on a dark grey car. Quick poll: left or right??

Post some pictures once you have it! You’ll love it.

Welcome. Very nice! If it was available when I bought mine, I think I would have gone for the blue performance pack version. Kept mine stock for 3 years and loved every minute of driving it road and track. Only now starting to add a few things. Definitely fulfils the look back test, always glance back after parking it, even now! Also nice pies!
-
Ah man, just bought some for £75!

The times I’ve spun in the 86 in the wet it has been when getting on too much power while still turning.
-
Look what arrived today! 17x9 Face 3 TE37 Saga. Thanks @Lucas@PartBox! Weigh in : 7.7 kg Can finally get the Flex A suspension and AP racing BBK on with these. Just need to get tyres and a few other bits. Do 245/40 Michelin PS4 sound about right?

Wanted standard GT 86 OEM wheels
choupolo replied to paulmacmichael's topic in Wanted GT86 / BRZ Cars and Parts
Getting the new wheels tomorrow hopefully, so stock wheels will be up for grabs as soon as they’re off the car if you’re still interested? -
Getting new rims to replace stock facelift ones tomorrow hopefully. I’ve just put some new tyres on too and they will be up for sale as soon as they’re off the car. I’m up in Manchester though. There was another user on here who asked before (see other thread) and may offer it to them first out of courtesy, unless they don’t respond, as they haven’t done so far.

I’m replacing my facelift OEM wheels very soon. Expecting delivery of new ones in the next month or so. I can let you know as soon as they’re off the car and available if you’re still after some at that point. They’re in good condition apart from some kerb marks on two of the wheels. Also just put brand new Avon ZV7 tyres on this week as the Primacy’s finally wore out! -
Petrol / Fuel Type Shell V Power, Tesco 99 Momentum, Sainsbury Super Unleaded, BP Super Unleaded
choupolo replied to Joolz's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
“If I used the petrol at the Sainsburys near Salford quays that was 'eco' town fuel, it would get me to there and back once.” Wow. I’ve been doing Manchester to Blackpool daily, 1 hour without traffic, 53 miles. A full tank of VPower/Tesco 99 consistently lasts me just about 5 journeys one way. I am guilty of pushing the revs a bit though! Cant say the occasional normal fuel fill up reduced this that much that I’ve noticed. Would have worried about a leak if I used the whole tank in one day!- 29 replies
