Hello, I thought this would be an obvious modification but haven't seen much talk about it? It certainly open up the tyre options, and I don't think 225 is too wide. Love to hear from people on here, only had the car since Sunday so won't be doing much to it yet, however it does have Prestivo tyres all round, which I have no knowledge of.

A simple enough modification, and inexpensive at £35, I have swapped out the standard shift knob for a Tomei SS, and I bloody love it. If it cost twice as much I'd still consider it good value, it's made changing gear a much nicer experience, looks tasteful, and has got rid of an annoying squeak the standard one had. 10/10 - would recommend

I much prefer the Tomei, looks and to use. I totally understand the desire to stick to an oem look though
-
No I don't think so, but you get a sticker with the shift gate numbers The shift is so much nicer, I totally get you want oem look, but this is as subtle as a shifter gets, and feels a million times better than oem imo. I was surprised at just how much I prefer it!

shift knob Wanted: OEM Leather Shift Knob (Black)

My OEM one had an annoying squeak from the top cap, and although nice enough, I much prefer the Duracon. I was surprised at how much I like the Duracon more tbh, as I was only trying to get rid of the squeak! -

Replace with a Duracon SS, infinitely better, tasteful, and only 35 quid -
It's certainly against the census of opinion, it does everything I want and need out of an engine, and I quite like the sound at 7k. It produces good power between 5-7k, and with the excellent gearbox, is easy to get moving. You also get an engine with very low emissions, that can do 40mpg when needed. That's what makes it excellent to me, it does two jobs, making it a superb daily or only car.

Thank you! had it since 2004, doing a rolling restoration on it currently. GT86 is a genuine great in it's own right imo
-
Exactly how I feel about mine, if anything the engine is one of my favourite things on the car. I bought mine to keep me happy whilst doing a rolling restore on my TVR, I can honestly say that it's been one of the best cars I've owned, and will keep the TVR honest for driving thrills. I know! I am tempted for sure

On 99ron, and with just a performance filter, I think it's a cracking engine. There's no denying the dip, but it's so easily driven around, and moves the needle nicely to 7krpm.

I'm actually keeping mine standard, and agree regarding values, an unmolested GT86 will be a sought after car for sure. Also agree regarding looks, the GT86 is very pure design, love it.

I was pleased for sure, it only goes in now and again, maybe the seat type is particularly good for it?
-
I have a child seat I use on occasion in mine, no problem with access, and my partner was comfortable in the front passenger seat. It didn't have to be all the way forward. Seat is an older version of this : https://www.maxi-cosi.co.uk/car-seats/axiss?channable=01305f6964003836303836373131313092&color_swatch_id=5516&gclid=CjwKCAjw7rWKBhAtEiwAJ3CWLLftgbSWdAGDg6tB9vJNwvwxtQSLB9PPccR2LAkoPDc6WA43qIHvHBoCyjEQAvD_BwE

This resonates with me, in all my years buying and driving cars, the aesthetics/beauty has been very important, as such, I've always bought sports cars. Hatchbacks hold no interest for me, the GT86 is pretty much the perfect car for my needs
-
It's strange really because I absolutely love the sound. It's not fake, like some cars, and with a performance panel filter, the sound is great between 5-7k rpm.

Hello everyone,Quite excited, I have reserved a 2013 red GT86 from Vantage Wakefield, and hope to pick it up later this week.I have read lots of interesting stuff already on this brilliant site (and the owners site), the main thing is the spring recall, I'm waiting to hear whether my car has had it done, and at what mileage. It's a one owner car, provided by vantage, and serviced by them, which I'm hoping is a good thing.I can't wait to drive it, have always loved Toyotas, first car was a Celica ST162 :-).

Thank you, I do love it in white too though, a great colour for the GT86 😊

Hello, Just fitted one of these, great price and 4 year warranty. 70ah and fitted perfectly https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Varta-E24-Heavy-Duty-High-Performance-069-072-12V-70Ah-Car-Battery-4-Yr-Wnty/360530013877?pageci=775209d5-48c5-42fe-9aea-3583f6985b27 Also going to add a solar panel to ward off future parasitic draining.

I had a proper drive in the GT86 for the first time yesterday, a 110mile round trip. The car is superb to drive, however I would note that even with standard suspension, the ride is very focused, not crashy, but certainly busy. I'd also concede that it certainly isn't the fastest if caught in the wrong gear, but has enough overtaking capability in 3rd 50-85ish. With covid and wfh, I'm not really doing much with the car, and yet I am so much happier having it, compared to my 208 commuter econobox. Also getting 36mpg on a run, and that's with 2 high rpm dashes across MK too Toyota got so much right with this car, will be interesting to see what they do with the new one

VID_20200928_131549.mp4 Hello everyone, A bit of an update here, I didn't want to write anything until this got sorted. This video was taken 7 days after collecting my car from Wakefield. As you can imagine, I was pretty mortified, and only got the car back a week ago. The noise sounds like bearing failure, however I'm led to believe it is a cam sprocket failure. The fix took ages, with the engine being completely stripped, and some lengthy part delays. Wakefield Toyota were exceptional throughout, courtesy car supplied, and regular updates provided. Thank gawd I bought a car with full Toyota warranty, and full Toyota history. The car is back now and running nicely, however it's not easy to really test in the conditions. It hasn't stopped me loving the car

Hello, I'm happy enough with the sound, and the Bluetooth phone connection seems fine, however I don't seem to have the functionality that the manual suggests I should. There is no car setup button, and only very basic options under general. Also, I'd love to be able to set the key to fold the wing mirrors upon locking, is this possible? Another also, when opening the boot and filling with shopping (exciting yes), the car annoyingly beeps at me after a short time. Can I change this? Picture of basic system :

Sorry for replying so late! I guess the truth is that if it's too much effort, I'll suck it up and accept it as it is. Thanks for the info though, as I may play about later in the year (y)
