GR86 Is Coming and it won't be around long... Is it worth keeping the GT or cashing out now and reserving the GR?

Personally I love my GT86. A year ago I had no intention of swapping out now and was fully committed to paying it off and running it for plenty of years before casually changing for a GR when the prices were low on the used market. However the time frame of this new one being available has me concerned that A) It will only be released in limited quantities and will increase in cost once the ban of the new GR86s comes in. Thanks for the advice all. I'll probably stick with my little red for the time being rather than risk realising I have no chance of affording a new GR when they launch. -
Most of you know that due to EU safety regulations, the GR86 will only be for sale this year and in 2023 (Source: Why is the Toyota GR86 only on sale for two years? - Toyota UK Magazine. See the comments) Currently, thanks to the heightened values of used cars, WeBuyAnyCar would pay £16605 for my 16 plate GT86 with a £13717.68 settlement figure from Toyota Finance. This would give me £2887.32 to play with if I were going to lay down a deposit on a GR. The high used car prices won't be around much longer I suspect as I work in the industry and new vehicle build times are slowly but surely turning a corner. Thing is. I don't want to enter an agreement where I'm paying more than £350 a month on the new GR (I'll be taking PCP). I understand it will be cheaper than the Yaris GR. Not sure whether to chop my GT86 in now, take roughly £3000 as a future holding deposit and make the plunge. Or hold back..see if GR86's are going cheap in the next 12 months and do it then. I suspect Toyota will be massively cautious with their allocation to the UK. Thoughts? P.S I work from home and my other half has a Yaris I can borrow for a couple of months to get about.

You know what, even though personally I would quite like the classic spoiler look...It's not a game changer, and perhaps not having a spoiler and being "rarer" is actually quite appealing. Might hold off for the time being. Thanks for the advice though. -

66 Plate Facelift GT86 Without Standard Spoiler - How Much To Fit One?

Glad to hear I'm not on my own. Duck bill is nice, but I kind of like the original (also with the slight chance I can trade in a few years when the finance is up as OEM). I've seen some boot + spoliers on ebay but they're £300+ Also some have the Toyota badge on the left or the GT86 badge on the left... Not sure why mine has not Toyota on the left but I quite like it. And quite pedantically I like the GT86 badge where it is now on the right! -

Eek I paid a lot more than that for a 66 plate last year from a main dealer. I think I'll avoid these posts moving forwards 😂 -

I was wondering what would be the cost to fit the standard spoiler option onto the GT86 I bought in October. I have no interest in carrying out the work of fitting it myself because I'm rubbish at that sort of stuff and the car is still on finance. What route should I take? Boot lid with fitted spoiler off eBay? Removed spoiler only (i've seen a few of these but not sure if its better to buy the whole boot and spoiler). I don't want to pay an excessive amount. But appreciate fitting and spraying will be costly. -

I was hoping that it wouldn't if I did use my insurer. But I'm kind of precious about having 18 years no claims and for the first time ever putting anything through my insurer. Surely if they have to pay out for anything on my behalf it affects my standing for renewal? Perhaps I'm wrong. But £30 is neither here nor there for peace of mind.

So I've owned my lovely 66 Plate GT86 for just over a month and when washing it last weekend I discovered a tiny little chip mark (about 5mm) near the windscreen base. I don't want to go through my insurance to get it sorted for free as I don't want it to affect my no claims or annual premium. Friend told me most places will do it for about £30. The choice of windscreen chip repairers is insane. Is there anyone I should avoid particularly? I'm a bit wary of letting Halfords near my car. Who would you/or have you used in the past?

So I've just bought a preowned 66 Plate 86 from a Toyota dealership in Cambridge. Checked my documentation and no sign of a pin. Excuse my newbiness but when you say "radio code" are you referring to the wireless key fob? or should I be chasing up my salesperson at the dealership?

That's good to know, I always pick up a fairly large Christmas tree each year from our garden centre, was concerned I might not be able to manage it this year! -

To be honest the Corolla purchase in 2005 was never intended to be a long term affair. It just never broke down, ever! So I became attached. Ironically it was still running fine, but someone in a 19 plate Golf R drove into it outside a supermarket whilst I was shopping and it became an instant write off. I felt I needed to stay with Toyota and here I am (albeit Toyota with a Subaru engine). Thanks, it's really so nice and tactile to drive. I have zero regrets. That's what I keep telling everyone, I'm just full-on embracing it! 😂 -

I'm 40, Have owned 4 cars total since 1997 when I passed my test. My last one, a 53 plate 1.4ltr Corolla lasted me over 15 years since I purchased it in October 2005. Always loved the look of the GT86 but never owned a car more powerful than a ride on lawnmower. Picked my 66 plate up on Sunday and I've been grinning ever since! Better late than never.
