I have a strange noise coming from the rear when I pull away that I can't seem to find https://youtu.be/q4-GVsJShyg To begin with I thought it sounded like a plastic scraping sound, but on the video it sounds a bit more like a squeak. I've cleared the boot out including the spare wheel surround to rule that out and can't find any loose trim. Only seems to do it when pulling away and can't seem to reproduce it under other circumstances (such as going over speed bumps) Has anyone had anything similar?

@Luke Let me know how you get on, I think I may have jumped the gun on declaring a fix for this, as the noise has come back. I got underneath to see if anything was amiss, and noticed a small amount of lateral play on the drive shaft on that side.(No such play on the other side) Not sure if that's possibly related, or even a separate issue in itself?

I managed to get to the bottom of it in the end, turns out there was the smallest of breaks in a spot weld in the boot lid! A bit of tape pushed into the gap and the noise is no more.

I've amplified the audio a bit to make the noise more obvious. I don't /think/ its brake wear (pads look good and it only happens pulling away)....keeping an open mind though

So its not every time, it seems to vary between most times and sometimes. I can make it do it pretty reliably pulling away applying left hand lock (like at a T junction), and yeah seems to be broadly at the same speed (5 mph ish). I /think/ the noise is coming from too far back to be the seats, but I'll keep this in mind when I go out later. Failing that I'll give spraying some grease on the bushings a go. Thanks for the reply KAS, Noise is heard 0.04 to 0.05 (crank up the volume for best results :D, sounds a little bit like a bed spring) Car is a 2018, completely stock. Can't entirely rule out the brakes sticking, but not getting any other symptoms to point to that. I'm fairly sure it's coming right from the back/ back left corner.

I appear to have some scrape marks along the top of my belt tensioner, is this normal and does anyone else have this?

Has anyone with a 2017+ installed an aftermarket headunit and had any success retaining the steering wheel controls? I used a https://connects2.com/Product/ProductItem/CTSSU004.2 to link to a Kenwood DNX7190DABS, and only 3/5 steering wheel buttons worked...none of them mapped to the correct functions.

Update incase anyone else comes up against this. I've cracked it by using a iDatalink Maestro SW, did have to ship from the US, but from amazon.com it's still quite reasonable. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00J4W10XG Pretty straightforward to wire up. I used the Connects2 harness and just cut the plug off that would be for their SWC interface. Anyway, works like a charm and is even re-programmable, should you want volume up to map to volume down 😂

I bought a 2018 GT86 ~ 6 weeks ago, currently has just over 17k miles on the clock. Overall absolutely loving it, the only thing slightly taking the edge off is the gearbox, specifically 2nd to 3rd. I'm aware gears 1,2,3 have triple cone synchros, so its reasonable to expect these to feel a bit different, but 2>3 feels just a bit on the wrong side of notchy. It's notchy even when properly warmed up, not every time but most notable at moderate speed with moderate revs. Fast shift seems ok(particularly at 5k+), as does SUPER slow, but not a more natural speed. No grinding, but you can feel a nick/catching slightly through the stick. Only on the upshift, down is like butter every time. It also does the 'hard to get into 2nd when cold'...but I don't really mind this as idling for a couple of mins seems to deal with the worst of this. I mentioned it to Motorline Gatwick who changed the gear oil free of charge, this didn't make any difference, but that's not a huge surprise as its more OEM. Reading around other posts on other gearbox niggles, I notice some others have got on well with swapping out the oil for Miller's/Motul/Redline MT90, do you think this could help in my case? I notice the gearbox part number on the 2017+ model is different, does anyone with a facelift have any experience with these?

Motorline took it for a drive around and reckon it's normal. They did let me drive a 19 plate they had on the forecourt with 2k miles, which did feel largely similar, perhaps a little bit better. As @BRZ-123 said I'll have to learn to accept it as a feature . Will hit up Abbey Motorsport anyhow to see if any of your suggestions @spikyone take the edge off.

Yeah all other shifts feel completely fine, 4>5 a little bumpy sometimes and 5>6 a tad stiff...but nothing overly remarkable. 3>2 is spot on every time. 2>3 isn't hard to get per se, it just feels a bit rough going in. I'm taking it to Gatwick tomorrow to see what can be done warranty wise. Going to try and drive another they have for sale to see if it feels any different. @BRZ-123 Are you running OEM oil in your box?

Hi Folks, I've finally taken the plunge and bought a 2018 GT86. Loving it so far, so much fun to drive. I've come from owning a Mitsubishi GTO which never failed to have a steady stream of stuff going wrong all the time, so hoping this will prove a bit more dependable I do see what you all mean about the notchy gearbox, second is pretty bad from cold but seems alright after 20 mins or so, and 2 -> 3 you can definitely feel it catching even when its warm. Otherwise I'm supremely happy
