Adam's Stage 3 Turbo Rocket Bunny

Cheers Nicebiscuit. I haven't had an Issues to be honest James, clearance is fine and there has been no rubbing what so ever, it must be the AVO set up I guess. What size exhaust are you currently running, 2.5"? I've just been to see Mike at Tuning Developments in Warrington (apologies Richard, I didn't have time to pop onto yourselves), Mike has confirmed that the grinding noise is just like you said, extra transmission noise due to the upgraded clutch and flywheel. PHEWWW. I'm a bit over cautions at times due to previous mechanical disasters I've experienced with other cars in the past.. Better to be safe than sorry though I guess. Mike mentioned that they are having an open day on November the 1st, so will be going along to that and getting car on the dyno, will be interesting to see what it is currently running at the moment. You coming? Also went out in his turbo'd GT86, very nice, it went like excrement off a shovel!! And looks beautiful.

Haha cheers mate, the AVO exhausts are second to none. The sound is perfect on them, and they look the business! The one I'm selling isn't AVO though, It's a custom made one, from Alunox racing exhausts. Sounds great, but a completely different tone to the AVO and not as loud.

It is the 3" AVO exhaust. I'm trying to sell my old 2.5" custom exhaust and manifold at the moment, but no interest.

    Grinding Noise Issue

Hey all, Just wondering if anyone could shed any light on a issue I'm currently having. I'm now running my GT86 with the Stage 3 AVO turbo kit, with the new clutch, fuel system etc. Since having these works done, I've started noticing a very slight grinding noise. The noise happens when I'm in gear and when I let off the accelerator, whilst the revs are dropping between 3,000 to 2,000 rpm. It is at it's loudest whilst in gears 2 & 3 and the noise has very slowly been getting louder. Again it only happens when the revs are dropping only between 3,000 and 2,000 and It is more noticeable when the engine is warm after I've been driving for a while. I've tried recording the noise, however with the cabin / road / exhaust noise, and my crap phone, It doesn't pick up on the sound. It is now driving me potty!!! Fensport haven't heard of anything like this before, and have recommended that I bring it in. However as its a good 3.5 hour drive to them I was wondering if anyone on here has experience something similar? Mucho Gracias

    Grinding Noise Issue

Is this something perfectly normal when upgrading the clutch, or can this lead to any issues. As soon as I hear any grinding noises I panic, and start thinking the worst. I would be good if this noise is to be expected.

Adam's Stage 3 Turbo Rocket Bunny

As the idiot that I am, I have realised that I've got my project build in the Modification section of this forum. So I am now creating this new one to continue. My old thread: http://www.gt86.org.uk/forums/topic/2017-adamjs-gt86/?page=1 I have only recently had a AVO Stage 3 Turbo installed onto my GT86, along with the 3" AVO Exhaust System with a few extra goodies - an uprated fuel pump and injectors, P3 gauge and oil cooler all carried out by the wonderful Fensport, Its running approximately 320bhp - 330bhp, as far as you can go without Forged Internals. I absolutely love it...obviously. If any of you are quibbling over whether to go down the route of forced induction I highly recommend it, It transforms the car. As the BHP of my car has gone up, so has my immaturity when driving it. Dropping down a gear, and putting you foot down unleashes this chaotic concoction of power, whosshhing noise and terror. As childish as it sounds the noise of the dump valve is also extremely pleasing to the ear. And knowing that you have the power to keep up with the Porsches and cars that are in the £60K plus bracket, gives you that confidence on the road / track. A few pictures of the install that Fensport were kind enough to take for me: I love how not 'in your face' these modifications are. Upon lifting the bonnet, the AVO turbo doesn't bulge out and scream "I'M HERE!!" complete with multi luminescent colored pipes and leads. It is very subtle, anyone who doesn't own this car and not mechanically minded wouldn't probably realize it has a turbo, which is something some people like and some not. Me personally, I love that fact it is so stealthy modded (apart from the wheels and spoiler of course), but performance wise, no one would really know. The intercooler is black, which doesn't stand out. The P3 gauge is hidden in the drivers air vent, and the engine bay isn't cluttered. The AVO 3" Exhaust system complements the turbo, with a deep rumble upon start up, and when pushing the revs the noise is loud and pleasing. However there is none of that droning noise on long journeys. And when you get that turbo pop, It's beautiful (I wonder if there is the odd chance of a flame?). A few times I've caught the odd pedestrian off guard as the exhaust pops, watching them cr@p their pants, looking around to see where the noise has come from. Ooooo Shiny... As recommended by Adrian at Fensport, I've lifted my coilovers to a sensible height and had the wheels aligned, this has improved the handling no ends and made the car a lot more practical. Now I can even get over speed bumps. The only issue as mentioned that I've had recently is a slight grinding / transmission noise when the revs have been dropping between 3,000 and 2,000 RPM. However I will pop over to Tuning Developments and RRG on Tuesday to see what they think. My car plan was to have a GT86 N/A for a few years, and then possibly look at a second hand R8. I've delayed this plan by going for the Turbo and I haven't looked back. To me this car handles like a supercar, and now has the performance to go with it!

    Grinding Noise Issue

Appreciate the input guys. If It's okay i will pop over hopefully Tuesday afternoon to see you Mike as you are down the road so you can have a listen, and I may go for a drive over to see the notorious RRG Macclesfield after I'll book the afternoon off work then. Cheers again.

  15. Has anyone on here installed an aftermarket steering wheel, preferably with a HKB boss kit? I think I know pretty much how to do it (without learning Japanese to understand the instructions), but I was wondering if anyone had any useful tips / advise. I've got the 2 resistors, and cable etc, but as I will be having a ecutek remap, there are a small few modification I will need to make to the boss kit which has been kindly explained by Fensport. If anyone has done this before, there advise would be greatly appreciated. Wish me luck

Nardi Steering Wheel Install (HKB Boss Kit)

Well they have just brought out a new hkb boss, which is the kit I purchased. Dan went through it with me, however when fitting this I've not had to make any mods to the boss. It seems to fit perfectly. Horn works and everything. Took a few photos of the fitting to post for future reference. I'll post a few pictures shortly.
  20. Just a bit of a warning, I damaged my existing front towing eye cover when I was at Oulton Park a while back (It got crushed in my boot). I went to my local Toyota garage in Wrexham to order a new one which was only a few pound, however to spray it would cost me £42 in total. I wanted a proper job to be done, and even though they couldn't guarantee an exact match (Pearl White) to my existing bumper I thought It would be my best option. However I recieved the cover the other day and upon having it put on the car, there is a complete difference in the white colour and it stands out like a sore thumb (the picture doesn't show it for what it is). I could notice the difference from the other side of the carpark at work, It's a lot lighter, and looks like more of a plain white than pearl. I went back to toyota and complained but as it says there was no guarantee I dont have a leg to stand on. Maybe I'm a bit too much of a perfectionist when it comes to paint! Heyho, I'm £42 lighter and bitter as a lemon Just a warning to anyone who is after any small items to be sprayed by Toyota, there is a VAST difference in colour!!!!

Hey Rob, Love the towing hook and will let you know if I get one, however funds are slightly strapped as I'm saving up all my money for the AVO stage 3 Fensport are fitting in August So maybe a while before I order. Appreciated the offer. Cheers again guys. Muchas Gracias
