White GT (new to me - from forum member) Cambridgeshire
adamj29 replied to Andy Mac's topic in Newbies
Welcome mate, just shows you how impressive the GT86 is when someone moves to it from a epic car as the 911 Twin Turbo is. Happy days -
Oh and I have OEM shocks and springs also for sale - If anyone is interested I can upload pictures
-
Hi Nigel, that would be great mate, I'll PM you. Thanks very much! Rob, I love it! And the idea of the GoPro mount is extremely tempting, cracking idea.
-
Yes It was due to expensive cost that I saw my bum about it. But I've just had a call off the main tech guy there called Nigel. Very helpful and apologetic, and explained a few of my options. I mentioned that in the short future I may be purchasing a front splitter, and he has advised that when I do he will spray the splitter and front bumper and look after me as such. I'm pleased with the out come, but for anyone else out there who is considering getting something touched up in pearl white, just be careful. They cannot get close to a match, especially if it is only a small area!
-
True good point, actually Rob do you mind telling me where you got your towing hook from? It looks great, I painted my OEM towing eye red with caliper paint as a temporary measure for the last few week And you've done a great job modifying your cover to fit the towing eye!! My original towing eye was pretty much the same color to be honest, maybe a slight variation, but if you saw this in person I'm sure you would cringe. If Toyota can't get a close match then they should not be offering this service full stop, or make the customer aware that they could be a vast difference...(must stop ranting now...but it feels so goooood)

Booked in with Fensport for August - Stage 3 AVO Turbo! Ohh happy days!
-
Well It looks like I'm going to be rather skint. However I may need to look at this in more depth now as my budget can't stretch too much. This really is an expensive game, why oh why didn't I take up golf or squash or something much less painful. Not that these compare to going sideways on a track day haha! I've had a MX5 Mk2 with a big turbo strapped to it, with hardly any other upgrades and I've seen how it slowly breaks apart and becomes increasingly unreliable. I got to know our local AA man very well. Yea that is definitely out of my price range at the moment, being a speed freak and being used to fast cars I'd be inclined to say its very necessary to have 400bhp But realistically I may have to settle for slightly less, for now anyway. I'll wait and see what prices Fensport come back to me with. If it works out cheaper for the turbo than I originally budgeted, this may well be an option. Thanks for all the advise again, It's a real big help.
-
Ahh right, thanks for the explanation Lauren. So I'm assuming if you are looking to get up to around 400bhp, it would probably be a good Idea to go for the forged internals. Its a balance between wanting to squeeze the maximum power out of a turbo, but upgrading the necessary parts accordingly and forking out the money to do so. I guess buying and having these forged internals fitted isn't going to be cheap, maybe too much for my budget. Another question for Fensport I think.
-
It sounds great. Apologies for my lack of knowledge but what exactly are forged internals? Are they basically stronger internal components of the engine to take the extra pressure of having a turbo? I want the car to have all the recommended upgrades to make it as reliable as possible. What approximate bhp are you running, if you don't mind me asking? Glad to hear it is insanely powerful haha, enjoy mate. Very envious. I will give your blog a read, and try and educate myself further

It is quite progressive actually with the discs, I'm still bedding them in so taking it fairly easy but as you said I'm a lot more confident when I do put my foot down knowing I have the stopping power there. Well I was thinking the Stage 3 AVO Kit to be honest, all depends on funds, I've had a approx figure off Fensport a while back but will get in touch with them in a few months after I've moved house. (I can't take out the loan until my mortgage goes through haha). But I need that pop, crackle and boost in my life, I used to have a turbo MX-5 Mk2. Which lasted a few weeks until it blew up, but those 2 weeks were the best weeks of my life, however I'm sure that won't be happening this time
-
Cheers guys. I upgraded all around James, Hawk pads and DBA discs! Such a difference, I've never understood the importance of good performance brakes until my first proper track days the other week. These are definatly a worthwhile upgrade I'd say. I've given in to the FI by the way, saving up for a Turbo as I'm not sure if Fensport offer finance. Hopefully going to take it into the 350BHP + bracket
-
I've had some DBA Performance discs and Hawk pads delivered from Fensport. Had them fitted locally, and had a bit of a photoshoot to celebrate.

Hey people, I'm after a set of rear smoked lights, preferably Valenti. Not sure if anyone has any spare but after for a good price. Cheers
-
Cheers guys, yea I wasn't sure if I'd like it, but hell I love it. Loots the balls, but I do think I need to invest in some smoked rear lights but on the cheap as funds are getting tight (May put a wanted advert on here to see if anyone has any spare). And definitely black Toyota badges. Haha Keith! Yes its incredibly infuriating dropping the bolts, I gently tapped the boot lid as the car was on a slight hill, and slowly the things shook themselves out.... pain-in-the-arse!

Had delivery of my new spoiler today, carbon fibre Eurolinea Spoiler. (Thanks to Kevin for the help). Also had a read window visor spoiler that needed fitting, so skipped work early and got to work. OEM Spoiler Amazing the dirt that collects under the spoiler! Cleaned up New Eurolinea Carbon Fibre spoiler Fitted: I'm really happy with both items. Easy to install as well, ish. Apart from loosing damn fixings in the inside of the boot lid (that was a fun task to carry out... the neighbours looked at me weirdly as I was shaking the boot lid like a madman) May need to add a few more carbon parts to go with it... Will get some decent photos taken soon...

Thanks for the link, yeah if you could let me know when it is published mate that would be cracking, cheers. It may not be worth it in my case, but still rather interesting.
-
Completely agree, doubt I will have much time to get onto the track as we are going a week on Friday so may just go on the track but take it easy. I've been gaming it, to learn the track as much as I can. Wish me luck

Thanks for your comments Mark, right back at you, love the TRD bumper, does look a lot meaner!! Lavaly Yeah James I think I would regret not doing at least 1 lap of the ring, but if its rainy or the conditions aren't appropriate I may have to sit it out. (or maybe I need to man up.) Let me know how you get on with the lightweight Flywheel, and your other mods, as this is probably the route I will be taking. Would you need to remap the car after installing the Crawford Power Blocks? Is it proven to increase the BHP 18 - 20? Not a large cost in ratio to the power gain. I have a carbon fibre ducktail style spoiler on delivery and a rear window fender coming soon so hopefully these will be carried out with the same ease.. Unlike the Blitz SUS Induction Kit, which instructions were in Japanese haha I'll double check the ride height using that method Lauren, thanks.

Surprisingly easy job raising the coilovers. I'm a novice when it comes to anything mechanical, so I was fearing this job. But to be honest it was relevantly easy... I have the ST XTA coilovers, every make must be different I assume, but these only have the one collar, it was a simple case of loosening the lock fixing on the collar with the key tool given and twisting the collar to the required height (and locking collar back again). The car was so low, I had to drive it onto about 50mm thick wooden planks, to be able to get the jack under it, and then the jack stands.. I measured from the base of the thread to the top of the collar, It work out well as they seemed spot on, apart from one which was 1mm out!! New ride height is a lot more sensible, as I can now park my car on drive with ease. Even if I was driving down a lane with a lot of camber on it, I would catch the underneath of it. I guess I will have to get the wheels aligned now... A few friends are driving down to the Nurbergring next month and my greatest fear was not being able to get the car on the ferry, that problem should be solved now. I'm still unsure whether to take the car onto the track as It's my pride and joy, and if I did end up damaging it, it would turn me into an emotional wreck, I'd end up spending days sobbing into a bucket of Ben and Jerrys... Ordered a rear roof spoiler / visor from Tarmac sport and hoping to order a carbon fibre rear spoiler shortly. I'd love to go down the forced induction route, but I can't justify the expense along with the fact that it may invalidate the warranty?.. But still, I could do with just a little more power!! Tempted by the lightweight pulley kit, but not sure if that will improve the performance??

I'm a bit late on this one, not sure if you have any left? I'm Ideally after a black one if possible

Hey Guys!! Been wanting a GT86 for a long time, and finally I picked up 'the beast' 3 weeks ago. Pearl white, JBL Speaker and Half Leather Seats. I just wanted to say Hi really, I'm up near Chester / Wrexham way. There is a lot of good advise and information on here and I already have a big list of mods I want to carry out, unfortunately my budget is sore at the moment. Hopefully a cobra exhaust resonated (from everyone's opinion including Marks the non-res are too loud), lowered springs, shark fin, and possibly a TRD spoiler. And if I somehow get a pay increase a Sprintex SC would go down just nice, but I wouldn't bet on it. More like a pipe dream probably. Hopefully catch some of you guys around soon
-
I love this spoiler, I've been after something similar to this but haven't know where to look
-
Hey Dean, I too had power concerns when taking the plunge with my GT86. My previous car was a Boxster S which needless to say was much quicker, especially with mid range performance, so I thought that this loss in power when changing would grate on me after a while. But I hasn't, in fact I could never go back! The drive and feel of the GT86 is addictive, and is by far the funnest car I've had. Take the plunge
