I run ferodo 2500 with braided houses and higher boiling point break (race) brake fluid with standard calipers. Excellent wear rate and fine on track and road but do squeak at low speed.
-
Mine was delivered yesterday and great book and thank you to all involved in sorting group buy
-
I run G1 as standard plus G2 dynamic as it came. S1 I have made changes to and mix of what I found and Lauren's. S2 left as dynamic. with only doing Blyton the other weekend it seemed fine on track but I was learning the track so had EDFC set as G2 and S1 on road have it set G1 and S1

Put me down as free and have Street Advance with 5kg all round with EDFC which probably softest set up.
-
Ok great Rob, thank you for sorting

Agreed, which is why I have gone for Street Advanced initially as I have a different driving style with using hand controls plus I have rods in my back. At some point I may want to change to a more advanced damper but at the moment I am just enjoying the car again and happy with how it feels. I will hopefully be doing the last two rounds of the sprint championship and some track days over next few months.

Separate compression and rebound adjustability is what I am used to from motorbike background where I used Ohlins / Ktech and have learnt the hard way with the GT as went down the wrong route with 'Litchfields Handling Kit'. I understand it is not just down the spring rate but the damper and even the to oil weight etc. Which is why I wanted to start from scratch on a re-buildable damper which can be revalved to suit the spring rate. I cannot adjust rebound/compression myself which is why I have EDFC Active with Street Advance which adjust both rebound/compression with the one rod. In the future I can upgrade to full system which can adjust rebound/compression separately. Which is why you need to match everything together with tyres, brakes etc to get the benefit.

I looked into KW which were good but still went with TEIN with 5/5 kg Spring rate which works well on road and track. 8/9 will be to hard on the road and I would suggest going out in different set ups and try before you buy. TEIN Flex A's are good value for money and spend the money on getting car setup and balanced. Then you can get your brakes sorted so the whole set up works together rather than one upsetting the other.

Agree with Lauren, are the end of the day we all like our GTs/BRZ and it's a great car whether you chose to modify it or not.

Put me down for one please. Thanks

Guy Martin to replace Chris Evans!

I echo the above its worth travelling for good experience

The wheels and tires were bought through Litchfield which are lighter than stock so as you can imagine I am rather annoyed about the whole thing especially when I took one of there main guys out in it. I could go on about the whole episode but TEIN and RRG were very good after having several conversations on options etc. When I dropped car off with Richard I asked him to try it before and after and it was like chalk and cheese. Personally I would always suggest matching damper to spring rate and separate compression and damping adjustment but depends on budget and what you want from suspension.
-
Bits on eBay are off my GT. When I spoke to Litchfield about it they said the setup was designed on there BRZ which had 18" wheels with Michelin sport 2's and they thought 17" wheels with yokohama advan 105's could of caused the problem. Some people might like there setup but I did not which is why I am selling the bits.

Lauren's right as it was my GT that had setup and it was awful. I listened to wrong people and should of stuck with what I new from motorbike background and how to set up suspension and what the basic principles are. Having dampers matching the spring rate is essential to start with plus brake set up, tyres etc. Domino effect as everything needs to work together and understand why you are doing it. Plus it depends on how you drive and what you want from it. Just getting the car balanced car with adjustable coilovers on scales first can improve handling.

The electric motors are wireless controlled by the sender units which control the damper rod adjustment. read through link which explains how it works and the settings. http://www.tein.co.uk/product/edfc_active.html#edfc_active04

GT86 BRZ Tuning Package from Tuning Developments

Looks good Mike, I have Miltek resonated with overpipe and HKS drop in filter and remap. Would you look at just manifold change with remap to suit?- 231 replies

I have Street Advance with EDFC Active with GPS module and spent a lot of time looking and discussing options with Tein, plus going out in Lauren's car made my mind up the right way to go. I looked into Ohlins as they have there version of EDFC coming out but would be £4K plus and KW, BC's etc. Street Advance come with 5kg springs front and rear as standard as I needed a smother ride and the option of revalving if necessary plus adjustability of going on the track. I have camber bolts on the front and RRG managed to get 2 degrees of camber and fitted whole system. No pillow ball mounts with St Advance but not really necessary if you are not into changing set ups. I also went back to standard anti roll bars and the cars handles great and EDFC is well worth it once you get your head around how it works and how you want it to work. My wife is not petrol head but could tell the difference to previous set up and also when I change settings. Standard rebound compression is 16 clicks with EDFC you can change it to 32 or 64. So I have bit of halfway house and would recommend it as the roads round the Cotswolds are not the best and having had it all fitted for couple months now very pleased.

Advan v105 for sure

I have found DS2500's OK with standard disc as I am hard on the brakes and need plenty of feel with hand controls and you more than welcome to have a try before you buy!
-
I have not watched 'extra gear' yet but think Chris Evans was trying to hard and needs to relax into it and make it his own!
-
At the end of the day it depends on how you drive your car and what you are going to use it for, if I could I would of bought a manual but did not have a choice. A lot of the comments made are true but I use auto on a daily basis and know how to get the best out of auto box. It is a good auto box even compared to my BMW's all singing and dancing 8 speed. But the auto box can be frustrating pushing on when you want to hold a gear rather than change up or the reverse when wanting to use engine braking. So it's not necessarily the way it works it's the actual ratios which not matched to the engine etc. I have changed the final drive ratio which has made a ton of driffence on drivability but you sacrifice a bit on fuel consumption. If the gearbox had better final drive from the get go then I would not of needed to do the mod. Any auto box would be difficult to drift if you have not got the knowledge/experience on how to drift and as Lauren said go on drift school then decide.

It was great catching up with people and managed to get off the motorway before M6/5 car park on the way back!!!

Keith, I run Goodridge hoses and ferodo 2500 pads with higher boiling point fluid with no issues. Castrol React SRF racing brake fluid, it's expensive but worth it.
