Recall issued on cars to have valve springs replaced 2012-2013
Foulsmell replied to Lauren's topic in Mechanical
I had exactly the same done a couple of weeks ago now. And I have to agree with you. It does sound like it’s quieter and the clutch improved. Also feels a lot sharper on acceleration probably due to the plugs. Mine would of been the same sort of price but I had an oil leak sorted out. Cam plate one. Beware anyone with this leak it isn’t usually fixed by reselling the cam plate on its own. I was told that the leak occurs further inside then the oil ends up coming out of the plate. It pools lower down in the engine then drips on to the exhaust. All sorted now but worth them having a look while the engine is out otherwise it’s costly to sort out afterwards. -

Thanks for the update. Glad I skipped my plug change this year! -
Does anyone have a single or pair of these that they want to off load following my booboo coming out of the garage.
-
If you could mate that would be great. How much do you want for them?
-
And even better for a road car with a change of final drive too.

I used a micro screwdriver and hammered it out. There are a couple of vids on YouTube.

I think the value of them are on the road. I’ve no need to drop gears to overtake for instance like before. You don’t have to work the engine as hard. The extra torque reduces the feeling of the ‘dip’. And on the motorway it appeals to my lazy side. Overtaking in 6th no problem.

It’s only by 300rpm. On an NA car I’d say yes it makes a worthwhile difference on a road car. 12% more torque being but through is noticeable especially in 3rd 4th and 5th gears. Mine has never felt short geared and I have 4.67. Like said before a final drive would be track specific so not worth it.

PM you now Jared.

It would have to be around £300 judging by other sales on here. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hi mate. Was looking at this. Seems I can get a new one from eBay for not much more. Any movement on price? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I bought a cheap sheet of rubber, used the old gasket as a template and cut out two new rubber ones. Dried the lights out in airing cupboard then refitted. No issues. You can tighten them harder as the rubber doesn’t deform. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Welcome. Take note of this. I’d take it to some distant quiet place and make it slide to give you an idea of what the traction control lets you get away with etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Too right. If it was any good there would be loads of info about it. I doubt it would gain much on stock car without being mapped but then it wouldn’t be stock.

Found them! [emoji1305]
