I've been out today for a good drive and the greasing has cured it. How long it lasts who knows. I'll see how it goes Nige and then maybe take you up on the offer thanks. Much appreciated. [emoji106]

1-0 to you Nige.[emoji1]

Are the original squealing pads compliant to the new Euro noise legislation? LoL
-
I'll accept that maybe with some aftermarket setups more aligned to the track you might get some squeal but would put up with it because you are getting extra performance but for an OEM system to do it I think is just unacceptable. It's not like they rip your face off when you brake either. They just average.
-
Mine were bad I could hear it over music. Maybe I've had an extreme case. I'm used to some noise. My Type R had Stoptech BBK with groves discs and DS2500 pads but they never squealed.
-
The squealing just does my head in. You pull up in a car that looks as good as ours then hit with embarrassment as I squeal to a halt like a mk1 fiesta.
-
I'm amazed! I've never heard of a car being so bad on the brakes! Must be due to the callipers of it was compound the greasing etc wouldn't work.
-
Maybe but how can the OEM pads squeal due to the compound? Does anyone with Ferodo, EBC pads have the same issues?
-
Thanks Nige. I have always been impressed in the past by the customer service by Toyota so I'm sure will in the future. Many thanks.

No probs Nige. I appreciate your position on this. Cosmetic issues get sorted under warranty all the time and these are not a technical/mechanical part failure. Hopefully the work done today, which was free of charge, will have solved the problem for me. Thanks for your quick replies. Much appreciated.

I have owned several performance cars including Toyotas. Some more track focused some not, some with aftermarket track braking systems and none of them have squealed. I today took my GT86 to my local dealer who beveled the edges of the pads and copper greased between the pad and backing plate. Squealing is gone. For how long? Who knows. Surely if the compound was the issue the above actions would not of made any difference?
-
Thanks Nige. I get your point but if TGB have brought out new parts for a fix for this issue clearly they have identified there is a design problem. Rusty callipers are changed under warranty and that issue is only cosmetic so I can see why this is not a warranty fix. ???
-
Is this a fix under warranty then?

Could not drive past without saying yellow!

I've just had a look around one at my local dealer. I'm not a fan to be honest. -
I've no idea why the part leather seats are heated as Alcantara isn't cold when you sit on it. Full leather yes. First car I test drove was a black 86. Looked fantastic until I opened the door and clocked the cloth seats. I thought they had cheap cover over them! Part or full leather keeps the interior more in line with the lovely exterior. No offence to anyone who has cloth just my opinion [emoji106]

From a recent used buyers point of view though I would not of wanted a car with cloth seats for the reasons you said. That are more appealing to the eye and lift the interior. For your £1600 you get to enjoy them for as long as you have the car and make it easier to sell later on. I'll agree though £1600 is expensive as is the Nav upgrade.

Hi and welcome. Don't rule out the Toyota. In my opinion it's better looking inside and out plus you get the benefit of a bigger dealer support.

Got some spare time to fit my Summit strut brace [emoji1]

On my experience no. I went on two test drives both with a sales rep with me. Luckily he liked to oversteer in his drive out so I did the same [emoji1]
-
You'll need to find an enthusiastic sales person who knows how this type of car has to be driven on a test drive so you get get the full picture. Lots of low mileage used cars appearing now.
-
I think I'll do that. RRG Stockport? Was it done under warranty?

Is this it? http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=44636

Cheers Rob. I don't suppose you could put a pic on just to show me where.
