Not to take focus away from Rob's sale - but how much do you pay for insurance in the UK on the GT?

Welcome - but, please - Seahawks all da way!

How long do you plan to keep your 86/BRZ?
LarsB replied to griffinnn's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
Well I will be keeping mine for some years. It is my everyday drive, and with the price of cars in Denmark, we don't have the luxury of change wheels that often - or, I dont at least. The GT86 cost me just about one years salary (give or take) including the loss on my Volvo that the GT replaced. So, I will as it seems right now, be married with my GT the next 8 years, and I am looking forward to every day with the car -
Just got the car back, and it feels a little better - but it was not that cold when I picked up the car. The dealer had a talk with Toyota Denmark, and Toyota Denmark told the dealer that the Fensport insert is more for gearboxes on racing conditions, and not really suitable for my use, and not for fixing my "issues". They have changed the transmission oil to a different kind after advice from Toyota Denmark, so guess I will see in the morning if there are any real difference. But GOD am I glad that I am not to drive the Aygo they lend me one more day!!

Hi all The last few days I have been experiencing some difficulties with the manual gears on my new GT86. When the car is cold, I have problems getting from 1. to 2. and often have to skip the 2. gear, and go to 3. - even in low revs. When the car gets warmer, I can shift to 2. gear. Also I think that shifting in to 2. has a "crunchy" feeling that I don't get from the other gears. The car has run about 2500 Km by now, so it is fairly new Anyone else who had this?

Just ordered at kit from Jay, now its just a waiting game My Toyo-dealer will try and fit it, and see if it works once I get it...

Happy New Year Does any of you know if this kit http://www.fensport.co.uk/Parts/Model_108/Category_9/5037 will work with the TNS350 that is fitted in my car? LarsB

Thing is, not many danish Toyota dealers have an (extra) GT86 - so it will be difficult for them to do a side by side cold test. Instead I told them to leave the car out overnight, and take it for a spin in the morning tomorrow, then they will see for them selves how it is when its cold.

So the car is off to the dealership, and they are going to look into the "gearbox-issues" tomorrow. I send them the link to the Whiteline insert, but as written before, I dont think they are gonna use one of those, but it will point them in some direction of how the problem might be solved. Maybe they will just try and use a different transmission oil with a different viscosity...

I think it does - the text-tag on the picture said RAV4-TNS350, so I guess its the back of a TNS350

Thank you! I will try and forward this info to the dealer - but I'm not sure if they want to install a 3. party part in a new car with warranty and all, but they will have the info....
-
Have just made an appointment with the dealership - they will try and adjust the gears, and try with a different gearbox oil with a different viscosity... As told before, they do not have a lot of experience with the GT86 here in Denmark, but I hope that Toyota Denmark might point them in the right direction. Could someone tell me where to find some online-information on the "Whiteline shift mount" mod.? Just so I might give the information to the dealer...

I guess the lever is a new part, but I am not sure. I wrote the dealer on the the 25.12, but they are closed for the holiday - just want to let them know of my experience with the gears, and get their feedback. But I do just now skip 2. gear the first few minutes, and everything is then fine...

Welcome, from another new owner (picked mine up on the 19. of december). Love the color!

There is nothing wrong with my brain, Rob! It is just the first time I have a car that does not go in to 2. gear when starting out in the cold mornings - but it seems like it just the way the gearbox is made, so I'll live with it. And NO it does not take the fun out of the car, and I enjoy every second I drive it. I'm even so lucky that I from livingroom windows have a direct view of the car all day long, and I never get tired of looking at it... Guess thats love?

I have that crunching too - and I find it difficult to get in 2. when the car is cold...
-
Thats great Rob, thank you very much - I think I will get me one of these

No problem Rob - and Merry Christmas
