  1. NOW SOLD Performance Friction PFC Front Z-Rated Compound Brake Pads Toyota GT86 & Subaru BRZ Will now take £80. Located in Southampton, UK. Collection or postage to UK (additional cost for postage). Brand new condition, unused. Selling due to having to regretably sell my GT86 as our family has expanded. These were backup pads that I had for the next change. Arguably the best street / fast road pad for Subaru BRZ & Toyota GT86. Originally bought from Part Box: https://www.part-box.com/product/performance-friction-pfc-front-z-rated-compound-brake-pads-toyota-gt86-amp-subaru-brz-0929-10/ Any questions please ask. Thanks.

    Please Help - Brakes

Hi all, I bought my GT86 (17 plate) two weeks ago and ever since Ive noticed a squealing noise every time I break at slow speeds. The garage that I bought it from was not a Toyota garage so they've also been a bit puzzled. They first got me to bring the car back so they could sand a new surface onto my brake pads which did nothing to stop the squeak. Next they booked it in with the Toyota garage local to me who changed my front pads to a softer compound as part of a recall/bulletin but said at the time that they would also like to change my disks but were unable to get in contact with the other garage for authorisation. The pads did nothing to stop the squealing. The garage where I purchased the car from are reluctant to replace the disks in case it does not solve the squealing noise, and have said that it sounds like a characteristic of the car. Is this something that the car just has or is this something that is fixable? Any advice or suggestions are gladly welcome.
  3. Hello all, I searched for this but couldn’t find anything specific. (The background): I tracked my car at Goodwood last October/November. At the time my car was an auto GTS (Australian import) with an HKS Supercharger and Cobra Res Catback done by Fensport, plus some lovely ECUTek magic done by Adrian there. The rest of the car was stock (Australian) standard at the time (I’ve fitted Tein Flex As and EDFC Active Pro since, with GPS, and adjustable front and rear links etc.). Our next track day is booked for July. The car was running brilliantly and I was pushing more and more with each lap and the car was totally solid. The only problem I had was a big fade under very heavy braking at the end of the long straight there. Probably coming down from close to 140mph to about 40mph. The brake pedal went straight to the floor and, even though the car did slow, it wasn’t sufficient to make the corner and I tried to demolish the plastic guide arrows along the left hand side of the track. Fortunately they were the rebound type so they just left a load of white marks all over the front wing and under the left hand skirt. No biggie. The friend I was doing the day with reckoned that just changing the pads to something more heavy duty would prevent this happening again. I have since purchased Goodridge braided lines, a master cylinder brace, DoT 5.1 fluid, and HPS Hawk pads front and rear. The pads have all been fitted and run in. The feel is massively better even though it’s only been for road use so far. I haven’t gone as far as to fit the lines, brace or change the fluid. I am keen to only make one change at a time, and since the last track day the car now has the Teins and EDFC units fitted, however I simply can’t afford to run a track day, even a half day one, every time I want to test a change. (The question) (*sigh* finally, I hear): In your experience, to what extent do you think that fitting just the pads will have relieved the situation? Many thanks for your time, Richard

  7. Selling my old Cosworth / AP Racing 6 Pot front big brake kit. Bit of blurb about the kit: Includes: 2 x 355 x 32mm 2 piece brake discs 2 x 6 pot brake calipers Stoptech braided lines AP AF404 pads (Their version of DS2500's, pretty sure they're the same) - Roughly 10mm of pad material left all round 2 x Mounting brackets 2 x Aluminium mounting bells Original boxes and documentation The kit had been fitted to my car for about a month and covered roughly 1500-2000 miles. It is in great condition and looks as new bar some brake dust from use. I've since sold the car and reverted it back to stock before selling hence the reason for sale. It is an amazing kit with awesome stopping power, great pedal feel and zero fade. Pretty much one of the best kits you can get for the platform especially if you are doing track days. Price: £1500 collected from Staffordshire or can be posted at buyers expense. (Collection preferred)

    TAROX BBK Review so far

As some of you know I acquired a BBK kit from TAROX late last year for evaluation purposes. A stint of illnesses and other bits and bobs mean't that I got the kit fitted on just before the new year. Now that I've had it on for some time and have a trackday under my belt with them I can provide a well enough review to you all on the brakes and rotors. So the kit they gave me was the 328mm Sport Compact brake kit which consists of the following Red 6 pot TAROX Calipers, discs, pads and hardware to mount to the car. Braided hoses and all the nuts & bolts and boring bits! Packaging was well enough! The box came with a dent in it but nothing was damaged and the whole kit was packed well enough to prevent and scratches or chips to the calipers. Being in one large box it obviously weighed a fair bit! Also came with a complimentary lanyard of course and a small booklet of all their kits. Disc used is their F2000 single piece, obviously many think the grooves are pointless but lets not get in to a debate about them here! Their website states that their Sport Compact kit comes with the B280-6 or B30-6 Calipers usually. However the below suggests otherwise with the B32-6 Calipers instead. The one thing I do need to clarify with TAROX is what pad is used in the kit and I will post that up shortly when I get a response Drawings of the Caliper can be found here: http://en.tarox.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/B32-6.pdf Piston number Disc Ø (min-max) Disc thickness (min-max) Disc Depth Weight Mounting Type Lug offset Minimum internal wheel Ø Lug PCD Knockoff Piston Mounting Centres Piston Layout (Diameter in mm) Total area (both sides) cm² Piston Layout (Diameter in mm) Total area (both sides) cm² Piston Layout (Diameter in mm) Total area (both sides) cm² Pad Code Pad Area Pad Choice Pad Thickness Pad Depth 6 290-330mm 10-30mm 60mm 2.2 kg Lug N/A N/A N/A Optional 89mm 26/31/26 363 26/34/26 394 31/34/31 483 SP0239 80 cm² .114/.501./116/.601 17mm 60mm Daily Driving Usage As a daily driver, I was sceptical about putting a BBK on as I didn't want all brake and nothing else, I didn't want the Girlfriends head flying through the windscreen whenever I approached a set of lights! Safe to say that in these respects the brakes are probably somewhat tamer than the brakes they replaced which were DIXCEL ES Discs & Z Type Pads. The TAROX has a lesser initial bite and seem more progressive, i'm guessing these pads work better with a bit of heat in them (more on that later). The pedal feel however is improved with the braided lines and overall braking performance is definitely not decreased. They stop well in day to day traffic and handle fast road work just fine. Do not squeak which is an advantage. Dusting on the brakes is probably somewhat less than the DIXCEL pads but ultimately this isn't something that i particularly factor in when looking at a kit, if some of you do, they will dust more than stock but I guess lesser than some pads out there. Track Use Hopefully one of many trackdays to test the brakes out I was at brands hatch in January to give them a better test, slightly hampered by both the weather and the black flag I incurred (not through my poor driving I might add) but never the less a good day. As suspected the lesser initial bite was seemingly due to the pads working once they had a bit of heat in them. Probably more for the track biased then, but by no means a death trap on the road. It's worth noting i'm not 100% sure what pad it is. I shall find out for all though. They stopped well enough, it's all I can really say as they didn't particularly feel any better than my old discs and pads as the ABS would just kick in as it was an extremely wet and greasy track. I need to pencil myself in for a dry day clearly to compare properly. Brake fade was non existent, it wasn't on my previous discs and pads either but what I can say is they are an improvement over stock. I'll give them another test in May and see how they do for now though, overall i'm happy with the performance of the kit and would recommend it, it's not the cheapest of BBK out there, but it's certainly not the most expensive.

    Brake fluid

Morning all. I've just spent most of my night shift at work looking at brake fluids. To many reviews and the late hour has mashed my brain which isn't hard to do in normal hours. Is dot.5.1 actually any better then dot4? What does dot actually mean? What is the go to fluid for a road track combination? Thanks all
  14. Hi all, Nearly new front pads and disks, and rear pads, done roughly 1000 miles before Car was taken in by Fensport for K-Sport brake upgrade. 16. Here's a few images of the Brembo STI kit fitted on my GT86. This is the front kit of the 2005+ Subaru Impreza STI. It's a straight forward bolt on job. (Almost) You have to swap the bleeders from top to bottom which is a real pain! I had to get a machine shop to ease them out with heat and lots of grease. There are rumours that you can just fit these upside down on the other side. Which puts the bleeder on top. But the problem is they're differential bore callipers. Which means the pistons are different sizes top and bottom. To improve braking and pad wear. Fitting them upside down will cause problems. And also has issues with noise and brake feel. The rotors are 326mm over the 295mm stock. and under 17" wheels really fill the gap! I also fitted stainless steel brake lines. Which definitely improve brake feel and responsiveness. To finish the look off I painted the rear callipers in the same Brembo gold to match. Planning to get the rear Brembo kit to match. But it's slightly rarer as you need the 2008+ kit if you want a bolt on job rather than having to make brackets etc. So got my eye out for a good pair. Overall I am extremely pleased with this kit! The brake feel is awesome. Can feel serious stopping power and the braking is solid and smooth! I'm running Pagid Fast Road Pads in them. Haven't felt any problem with brake bias / fronts being over braked. Very very pleased and impressed with the setup! P.S - Sorry for the dirt. Haven't had time to clean it yet. My arches will never be as clean as Pitmans! But to his relief, my Brembo covers are now gone!! And will post the evidence on here later!
