Hi their so my audio installer just told me that the stock power suply is one of the worst he's ever seen. Because of how much power the car uses to run it's self. With the amps I'm going to run having a combined power of roughly 2500w he says I'm going to have to get a aultinater upgrade or something to improve the powersuply? Has anyone had this problem before ? Amps I'm using is Rockford t1500 mono and Rockford t600. But both of them make more power than stated. Hense why I rounded then up. Thanks for the help.guys

Hi All, Apologies in advance for replicating what’s already been said a thousand times! The various threads have been really useful but I still have a few holes in my knowledge and would appreciate your collective assistance. I am a newbie to the club and a recent new owner of a fab GT86. Like many others, I’m underwhelmed with the speaker setup. I’m looking to purchase some In Phase XTC component speakers, https://www.maplin.co.uk/p/in-phase-xtc-6cx17cm-2-way-component-system-r52mq. Reviews are scarce but typically positive. Does anyone have them, or any experience of them? XTC6CX Speaker Specification * Peak input power : 300watts * Continous input power (RMS) : 60watts * Sensitivity (1W/1m) : 90dB * Frequency response : 45hz - 20khz * Nominal impedance: 4Ohm * Woofer magnet 10.97 oz * Mounting depth 62.1mm * Speaker size 17cm (6.5') * Cut-out diameter: 142mm My intention is to do a basic upgrade, as I’m not an audiophile or interested in waking the dead with my phat toons. I am happy enough with the head unit (at least for now). From what I already understand a lot can be gained from sound insulation and deadening, with the addition of some reasonable speakers. If I go with the component speakers do I need to purchase speaker adapters and or adapter leads for the tweeters, as I believe they have a pass through to the woofer in the door? My shopping list (purchased) looks like this: * Non marking tools http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CAR-RADIO-PIN-DASH-TRIM-REMOVAL-TOOL-SET-Non-Marking-Pry-Levers-Clip-Poppers/262742292067?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 * 6.5” MDF speaker adaptors http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Toyota-Auris-2007-165mm-6-5-MDF-Front-Speaker-Adaptors-Rings-Spacers/400914854581?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 * Silent Coat sound deadening for the doors http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Silent-Coat-2mm-10-Sheets-Car-Deadening-Vibration-Sound-Proofing-Damping-Mat/161282941044?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 * Sound insulation foam ring and matt https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Car-Audio-Deadener-Noise-Sound-Insulation-Mat-Speaker-Deadening-Material-Black/252202414088?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 * PC2 - 824 adaptor leads http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Autoleads-PC2-824-Speaker-Adaptor-Lead-Cable-For-Toyota/352224284082?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 Many thanks in advance.

So here's the story. Having driven over to Humberside today for a family funeral there was a very heavy snow fall while we were in the pub afterwards and before I set off back to Lancs. No problem I thought, I swapped on my winter rims/tyres a few weeks ago so happy days. However, I was in the countryside, it was hilly and the roads hadn't been gritted. There was between 1 and 2 inches of snow on some of the B roads. Got to the bottom of one hill only to find 3 cars had slid into each other (or I think a couple had slid down the hill backwards) and there was no way I was going to get past them any time soon. I turned around and headed back up the hill only to find that even with the winter tyres (Yokohama winter drives) I could barely manage it (standing start didn't help) slid all over the show, including backwards at times. After half an hour I managed the few hundred yards to the top and a better road, but nearly didn't (and only did it in the end by wedging myself in the side gully where there was less snow/more grip). So my question is, rare as this situation is, it has made me realise that I shouldn't rely on winter tyres alone. So if ever I'm in a similar pickle I figure that a set of snow chains or socks in the boot would be a real life saver. Problem is I have no experience of either, has anyone used them for our cars and what would be recommended for an occasional use every few years, chains or socks (on OEM size 17" wheels)?

Looking at the inevitable ice install and trying to come up with full stealth solutions for the sub. I'm planning on fabricating something myself and was wondering if anyone else has anything implemented here, if so I'd love to see some pictures of what you or your installers have done. I'm pretty sure @Lauren you have something similar, do you have any pics of the enclosure under the false floor? It's an awkward very shallow space, Ideally it would be fiberglassed but I'm trying to avoid that as it's an incredibly messy job in the boot of my pristine new car!

Morning all, Looking at the reversing camera thread, I see that a sequence of presses on the screen when in navigation volume mode accesses hidden menus where you can activate & deactivate certain features. I've also read that pressing & holding setup on the HU whilst switching the lights on / off three times gives you other options. Anyone know for sure? Fitting properly integrated DAB is my aim, not the FM sender version. Why my dealer updated the maps & HU software last March, the DAB option disapeared so I'm keen to get that back. If @Fensport sell the reversing camera kits again or I can get one off someone else, I'd like to fit that too. Cheers, Simon
